New for the 1955 Chevy included switching from a six volt to a 12-volt electrical system.

The new 12 volt system had greater generator capacity and quicker cold weather starting.

Plus and increase in overall performance, such as better firing at high speeds, in both the Blue Flame six cylinder and the Turbo-Fire V-8.

The new 12 volt system allowed Chevrolet to add additional accessories such as power controls on all windows and power positioned front seats on some models

1955 Chevy Wiring Diagram

The 1955 Chevrolet had two optional radios. One was a manual tuning radio with six-tubes and long range performance. Plus a Signal-Seeking deluxe radio that had 8 tubes, a one button "wonder bar" that automatically tuned in a station whenever you were traveling. This radio also had five push buttons that could be set to a favorite most listened to station for quick automatic tuning.
