1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Four Door Sedan Advertisement The new 1955 Chevy four door Sedan did not follow the usual General Motors strategy of looking larger and more massive with each restyling. The entire line of Chevrolet's looked trimmer, lower and less bulky than the 1954 Chevrolet models. However, only the height had changed by almost five inches. The Wheelbase at 115 inch and the tread at 74 inches was within a fraction of an inch of the 1954 models.
Vintage 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Four Door Sedan One of the most noticeable feature of the new 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air was the wraparound or panoramic windshield. The windshield extended around the corner of new Chevy body. In addition the body of all 1955 Chevrolet's had a dip at the beltline back of the front door that gave it a sporty look. At first the beltline dip was planned only for the Bel Air Sport Coupe and Convertible. Harley Earl decided to put it on all models except the station wagons.
